Join David Ebenbach and Melanie S. Hatter for a reading from their latest books followed by a Q&A.

The poems in David Ebenbach’s Some Unimaginable Animal manage to situate everyday human hungers within the broadest context possible—the hunger of the universe itself to simply be. Ebenbach considers with empathy our evolutionary forebears and whatever unimaginable animals may one day examine our remains. These poems tie together the entire history of life—past, present, and yet to come—with understated grace.

Malawi’s Sisters was inspired by the 2013 shooting death of Renisha McBride and tells the story of a black family thrown into the national dialogue on race when the youngest daughter is killed by a white man. The family must overcome overwhelming grief, resentments and personal demons to find love and family unity once again.
