Celebrate the first president of the United States on the most exciting day of the year at Mount Vernon! Admission is FREE on President’s Day — Monday, February 18 (a $20 savings off the regular adult admission).

NO ADVANCED TICKETS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS EVENT — just show up. You are welcome to attend on your own as this event is open to everyone including children and groups.

Instead of attending by yourself you are welcome to visit Mount Vernon with the members of “Washington, DC History & Culture,” a non-profit community organization that “brings people together to experience the history and culture of Washington, DC.” As part of our day’s activities we hope to have a special “Slavery at George Washington’s Mount Vernon” tour and lunch together in the visitor center café. Additional details to follow a few days beforehand.

By RSVP’ing/registering for this event you are helping us determine how many people to expect and you are also able to receive event updates related to the day’s special programs, weather, etc. via email and/or social media. NO ADVANCED TICKETS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS EVENT.

Getting Here: Mount Vernon is easily accessible by car from Alexandria, Virginia and Washington, DC. Parking is FREE. You can also reach us by public transportation or via boat cruise, bike (bike rentals are available), and tour bus. Hours: Mount Vernon is open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and you’re able to arrive and depart whenever you like. We strongly recommend arriving early, by 8:30, to get in line for admission and avoid the larger crowds that will show up later in the day.

“Lives Bound Together — Slavery at George Washington’s Mount Vernon” Tour: We hope to take a special tour of this highly-regarded exhibit.
